Sonority metamorphosis

It was bougt just for tests, but it completely disappointed. Listening music with CD10 was like tucking a nail into an ear.

Therfore, it lay on the shelve and gathered dust for a long time. Until some CD player was needed for upgrade with our D/A converter (see "products" tad for more details, please).

Any interested can see how Cambridge is playng. With and without additional module. In conclusion: metamorphosis.

Come up to higher class

TX-870 is a classic amplituer, definately. In very bad shape before our work: incredible dirty at outside, badly repaired at inside. Generally it was a scrap. Ronust construction, decent component and design - it are not used attributes today. Not at this segment at lest. Therefore we begun to restore it.

Before, someone used transistors at random., therefore was planned a repair with an original parts. Unfortunately, popular formerly Sanken’s transistors become to unavailable. On the market are fakes, only. It are burning at the first dummy starts. By reason of that, we decided to upgrade the Integra’s amplituner. It was connected with electrical modifications. There are different power transistors used - 2SA1943 and 2SC5200. Some changes are at electrical connections, too – Power Amp is simplified, now.

Fortunately, the effort was recompensated. Sound get a higher quality. Especially high tones – vocal’s metalicity was lost. Becomed to much more pleasured. Modifications touched the low band – it is deeper and more precise. Maximum output power per channel drove separetly is higher, now. As well.

Technical data:

Max. output power: 2x 175W (4Ω) / 2x 110W (8Ω)

Pass bandwidth: 20Hz - 30Hz (+/- 1dB)

Non-linearity distortions: 0,025%

Signal to noise: 98dB (A weighted)

Dimensions (L/W/H): 432 x 435 x157 (mm)

Weight: 13,2kg

Replacing of everything

No doubt, it is extraordinary device - a playing furniture. It probably fulfilled meloman's expectations fifty years ago, but today it leave a lot to be desired. Poor loudspeakers, hardly reprodusing middle tones. Primitive amplituner's constructon, based on a vacuum tubes, but totally without tube's charm. For this turntable, which can be used as a plate milling machine. For these reasons, the acquaintance, being the owner of this piece of furniture, wished to exchange everything. Only the external appearance was to be intact.

At the very beginning the enclosure was tightened. Moreover, the speakers was replaced by JVC subwoofers. Earthquakes may not cause, but at least bass need no longer be imagined. A fullscale loudspeaker from Visaton was chosen for the high and medium tone reproducer, which proved itself in.

The electronics used here are a real leap in time. May be the tuner is from before two decades ago, but all the rest is modern times: the amplifier on MOS-FET transistors, Bluetooth module and everything controlled by a microprocessor. Effect? High fidelity of music reproduction, not giving way to many set consisting of separate blocks, in a stylish casing.
